Consumers Digest Communications, LLC: Our website address is: https://Consumersdigest.com. Associated email with our consumer privacy policy is: Support@consumersdigest.com.
General Policy Information
Consumers Digest “the App” provides services that assess & verify the level of trust Shopify merchant websites provide potential customers. This app works with merchants who use Shopify to power their stores. This Privacy Policy describes how personal information is collected, used, and shared when you install or use the App in connection with your Shopify-supported store.
This Customer Privacy Policy (“Privacy Policy”) applies only to the websites controlled by Consumers Digest Communications, LLC, a Delaware limited liability company, and/or its subsidiary and affiliated entities (“Consumers Digest Communications”, “ConsumersDigest.com”, “us”, “we” or “our”) where a link to this Privacy Policy is posted (collectively, the “Sites”), including all areas (except to the extent stated otherwise on a specific page) as provided by Consumers Digest Communications. “Sites” also includes any wireless-device-optimized version of the ConsumersDigest.com website (“ConsumersDigest.com Mobile”).
This Privacy Policy does not pertain to information that is collected offline. BY USING THE SITES, YOU CONSENT TO THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THIS PRIVACY POLICY. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THIS PRIVACY POLICY, YOU MAY NOT USE THE SITES.
Please read the rules contained in this Privacy Policy carefully. You can access the Privacy Policy any time at [Enter URL if we have one here] In addition to reviewing this Privacy Policy, please read our Customer User Agreement. Your use of the Sites constitutes agreement to its terms and conditions as well.
This Privacy Policy covers the collection, use and disclosure of personal information that may be collected by Consumers Digest Communications any time you interact with Consumers Digest Communications, such as when you visit our website, when you purchase products and services off the Sites, or when you call our support associates. Please take a moment to read the following to learn more about our personal information practices, including what type of information is gathered, how the information is used and for what purposes, to whom we disclose the information and how we safeguard your personal information. Your privacy is a priority at Consumers Digest Communications, and we go to great lengths to protect it.
What information we collect and how we may use it
We collect certain personal information because it helps us deliver a higher level of customer service. It enables us to give you convenient access to our products and services and focus on categories of greatest interest to you. In addition, your personal information helps us keep you posted on the latest products, special offers, recalls and events that you might like to hear about.
When you install the App, we are automatically able to access certain types of information from your Shopify account: [[API LIST WITH BRIEF DESCRIPTIONS]]
On our website, we collect two types of information from visitors to the Sites: (1) Personally Identifiable Information and (2) Non-Personally Identifiable Information.
Personally Identifiable Information
“Personally Identifiable Information” is information that identifies you personally, such as your name, address, telephone number, email address or company name. Consumers Digest Communications collects and stores the Personally Identifiable Information that you have provided to us. The following are some examples of manners in which we may collect your Personally Identifiable Information on the Sites:
- We may collect your email address, first and last name and zip code if you register for a subscription or request an email notification;
- We may collect your email address if you contact us with a question;
- We may collect certain information if you choose to participate in a special promotion; and
- We may collect your first and last name, address, and credit-card and billing information when you purchase a subscription or product from ConsumersDigest.com.
The above list provides nonexclusive examples of the Personally Identifiable Information that may be collected on the Sites. If you do not want Consumers Digest Communications to collect your Personally Identifiable Information, you must not provide it to us.
We may use Personally Identifiable Information to provide information on products or services that you have requested as well as for auditing, research and analysis to improve Consumers Digest Communications’ services. We may use your Personally Identifiable Information that is collected on these Sites primarily for the following purposes:
- To deliver services, such as information, electronic magazines or email notifications that you request or purchase;
- To allow you access to premium areas of the Sites;
- To alert you to special offers, updated information and other new services from Consumers Digest Communications, or other third parties, or to forward promotional materials;
- To complete a transaction or service requested by you;
- To fulfill the terms of a promotion;
- To ensure the Sites are relevant to your needs;
- To help us create and publish content most relevant to you;
- To notify you about a material change to this Privacy Policy or the Customer User Agreement, if necessary; and
- To contact you in response to sign-up forms you fill out under such links as “Contact Us.”
Non-Personally Identifiable Information
“Non-Personally Identifiable Information” is information that does NOT identify you personally and can be technical information or it can be demographic information, such as your age, gender or interests. Consumers Digest Communications may collect and store the Non-Personally Identifiable Information that you have provided to us. Here are some examples of the Non-Personally Identifiable Information that is collected via the Sites and a description of how this information is used:
- Internet Protocol (IP) address—Your IP address is a number that lets computers attached to the Internet know where to send you data—such as the Web pages you view. We use this information to deliver our Web pages to you upon request, to tailor our Sites to the interests of our users and to measure traffic within our Sites.
- Cookie—A “cookie” is a small text file that may be used to collect information about your activity on the Sites. For example, when someone visits a page within the Sites, a cookie is placed on the user’s machine (if the user accepts cookies) or is read if the user has visited the Sites previously. You may set most browsers to notify you if you receive a cookie, or you may choose to block cookies with your browser, but if you do, you may not be able to take advantage of the personalized features enjoyed by other users to our Sites.
- Web beacons (also known as “clear gifs,” “Web bugs” or “pixel tags”)—“Web beacons” are tiny graphics with a unique identifier, similar in function to cookies, and are used to allow us to count users who have visited certain pages of the Sites and to help determine the effectiveness of promotional or advertising campaigns. When used in HTML-formatted email messages, Web beacons can tell the sender whether and when the email has been opened. In contrast to cookies, which are stored on a user’s computer hard drive, Web beacons are embedded invisibly on Web pages.
- Demographic Information—“Demographic Information” may be your gender, age, zip code and interests, which you voluntarily provide to us on the Sites. We use this information to provide you with personalized services and to analyze trends to ensure the information provided by the Sites meets your needs. For example, we may offer personalized email notifications if you tell us which products or topics you’re interested in. Please note that we also consider aggregated information, which is not personally identifiable, to be Non-Personally Identifiable Information. The above list provides nonexclusive examples of the Non-Personally Identifiable Information that is collected via the Sites.
Non-Personally Identifiable Information may be used as described above and in other ways as permitted by applicable laws, including combining Non-Personally Identifiable Information with Personally Identifiable Information (except with respect to Non-Personally Identifiable Information collected from children under the age of 13).
We use Non-Personally Identifiable Information to analyze trends, to administer the site, to track users’ movements around the site and to gather demographic information about our user base as a whole. Consumers Digest Communications will not use the information collected to market directly to that person.
We do collect user information through remarketing and targeted advertising in order to better serve our users and enhance their digital experience. We may use your Personal Information to provide you with targeted advertisements or marketing communications we believe may be of interest to you. For more information about how targeted advertising works, you can visit the Network Advertising Initiative’s (“NAI”) educational page at http://www.networkadvertising.org/understanding-online-advertising/how-does-it-work.
You can always opt out of targeted advertising. As described in our “opt-out” section below, we communicate with subscribers from time to time via email. For example, we may use your email address to confirm your subscription order, to send you information about changes to our products or services, and to send notices and other disclosures as required by law. Generally, users cannot opt out of these communications, but they will be primarily informational in nature rather than promotional. Additionally, you can opt out of some of these services by visiting the Digital Advertising Alliance’s opt-out portal at: http://optout.aboutads.info/.
Your Consumers Digest User ID and related information
The Sites, as well as other Consumers Digest Communications products and services, allow you to create a “Consumers Digest User ID” based on your personal information. This convenient service saves you time and allows for easier use of our web services. Here’s how it works: You create a personal profile—providing your name, email address and, in some cases, mailing address or a credit-card number—and choose a password for security. The system saves your information and assigns you a personal Consumers Digest User ID — in many cases simply your email address, because it’s unique and easy to remember. The next time you order from Consumers Digest Communications, all you need to do is enter your Consumers Digest User ID and password; the system will then look up the information it needs to assist you.
When we disclose your information
Consumers Digest Communications takes your privacy very seriously. Consumers Digest Communications does not sell or rent your contact information to other marketers.

These companies also are obligated to protect your Personally Identifiable Information in accordance with Consumers Digest Communications’ policies, unless we inform you otherwise at the time of transaction. If you are approved for service, your account will be governed by Consumers Digest Communications’ and its carriers’ respective privacy policies. Without such information being made available, it would be difficult for you to purchase products, have products delivered to you, receive customer service, provide us feedback to improve our products and services, or access certain services, offers and content on the Sites.

Cookies are bits of information that the Site places on the hard drive of your computer. Consumers Digest Communications uses cookies to identify your Internet browser, store your Consumers Digest User ID for easy logon, store Users’ preferences, keep you logged in, and identify parts of the Site you have visited and applications you are using.
